Caption | This engine originally belonged with 72 sisters to the type B17, the so-called "Sandringham-Class", designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for the L. N. E. R., built between 1928 and 1937, various of these locomotives were converted from three-cylinder drive to twin engines and belonged thereafter to the type B2; No. 61671 operating here in front of the yard train belonged to this special class. The plate on the smokebox door with the inscription 31 A reveals that the locomotive was based at the Cambridge depot |
Caption (German) | Diese Maschine gehörte ursprünglich mit 72 Schwestern zum Typ B17, der sog. "Sandringham-Class", Entwurf Sir Nigel Gresley für die L. N. E. R., erbaut zwischen 1928 und 1937, diverse dieser Loks wurden vom Dreizylinderantrieb zu Zwillingsmaschinen umgebaut und gehörten danach zum Typ B2; die hier vor dem Hofzug operierende Nr. 61671 gehörte zu dieser Sondergattung. Das Schild an der Rauchkammertür mit der Inschrift 31 A verrät, dass die Lok im Depot Cambridge beheimatet war |
