Interesting the uphill ship on the Rhine: gravel traffic is a purely local affair: from pits in nearby Alsace, this raw material is shipped to plants above Basel, where processing then takes place. To a somewhat reduced extent, this specific regional traffic still exists
Caption (German)	Im Vordergrund: gelber Schweizer, eine Einheit der Basler Rheinschifffahrts AG (BRAG). Interessant das bergwärts fahrende Schiff auf dem Rhein: der Kiesverkehr ist eine rein lokale Angelegenheit: von Gruben im nahen Elsass wird dieses Rohmaterial nach Anlagen oberhalb Basels verfrachtet, wo dann die Aufbereitung stattfindet. In etwas reduziertem Masse besteht dieser spezifische Regionalverkehr immer noch
