Caption | Saloon steamer "Genève" (1895/96 Gebr. Sulzer in Winterthur), in service since May 28, 1896. September 10, 1898: Assassination of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth by an Italian anarchist. Relegated somewhat to the second rank among the new saloon steamers put into service. 1933/34 Conversion to diesel-electric propulsion: the ship has become much more efficient and above all much more economical, which is why it is used intensively from then on. Decommissioned in 1973, since then anchored in the port of Geneva as a floating venue for social projects and the like. Postmark 23.1.1904 |
