Caption After World War I, HAPAG had four largely identical turbine steamers built for transatlantic service, these are known as the "Albert Ballin class". The "Deutschland was built from winter 1921/22 at Blohm und Voss in Hamburg, launched on 28.4.1923, maiden voyage from 27.3.1924. From the beginning of 1945 used for transporting refugees from East Prussia, carrying over 70,000 people. Hit by British bombs on 3.5.1945 and sank in Lübeck Bay, lifted and scrapped in 1948. Not used
Caption (German) Nach dem 1. Weltkrieg liess die HAPAG vier weitgehend identische Turbinendampfer für den Transatlantikverkehr bauen, diese sind als "Albert-Ballin-Klasse" bekannt. Die "Deutschland erbaut ab Winter 1921/22 bei Blohm und Voss in Hamburg, Stapellauf am 28.4.1923, Jungfernreise ab 27.3.1924. Ab Anfang 1945 für Flüchtlingstransporte aus Ostpreussen eingesetzt, wobei über 70‘000 Menschen transportiert wurden. Am 3.5.1945 von britischen Bomben getroffen und sank in der Lübecker Bucht, gehoben und verschrottet 1948. Nicht gelaufen
