Caption The pion spectrometer consists of a target, several electromagnets and wire chambers. The latter two components are mounted in a frame that can be rotated around the target. The spectrometer is used to measure the momentum of the pions scattered from the target. According to their momentum, the scattered pions are focused at different locations at the end of the spectrometer. The position of these scattered pions is registered by the wire chambers. Magnets and mobile frame: construction SIN. Wire chambers: Construction University of Neuchâtel in collaboration with the University of Grenoble.
Caption (German) Der Pionen-Spektrometer besteht aus einem Target, mehreren Elektromagneten und Drahtkammern. Letztere zwei Komponenten sind in einem Gestell montiert, das sich um das Target drehen lässt. Der Spektrometer wird verwendet zur Messung des Impulses der Pionen, welche am Target gestreut werden. Entsprechend ihres Impulses werden die gestreuten Pionen an verschiedenen Orten am Ende des Spektrometers fokussiert. Die Position dieser gestreuten Pionen wird durch die Drahtkammern registriert. Magnete und fahrbares Gestell: Konstruktion SIN. Drahtkammern: Konstruktion Universität Neuenburg in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität Grenoble
