Caption | Saloon steamer "Montreux", built by Gebr. Sulzer in 1903/04. The ship was converted to diesel-electric drive of the paddle wheels between 1958 and 1962 and operated in this form until 1999. In a unique action the ship was then "re-vaporized" with a modern steam engine (incl. boiler of course). The "Montreux" is today the oldest ship of the Lake Geneva fleet, but with the latest steam propulsion. Postmark 17.5.1913 |
Caption (German) | Salondampfer "Montreux", erbaut von den Gebr. Sulzer 1903/04. Das Schiff wurde zwischen 1958 und 1962 auf dieselelektrischen Antrieb der Schaufelräder umgebaut und verkehrte bis 1999 in dieser Form. In einer einmaligen Aktion wurde das Schiff alsdann mit einer modernen Dampfmaschine (inkl. selbstverständlich Kessel) "re-vaporisiert". Die "Montreux" ist heute das älteste Schiff der Genferseeflotte , aber mit dem neuesten Dampfantrieb. Poststempel 17.5.1913 |
