Caption | Armin Baltensweiler (center) points out spaciousness of center seat of Electra propjet transport for Lockheed Chairman Robert E. Gross (left) and Vice Persident-Engineering Clarence L. Johnson during inspection tour of the Amercian aircraft manufacturing firm's facilities in Burbank, California. Center seat measures 19 inches (48 cm) with adjacent seats measuring 18 inches (46 cm), providing a comfort level equivalent to that of present-day short haul aircraft; and in custom four-abreast seating the seats are 1 3/4 inches (4.3 cm) wider per seat. The Swissair group, led by Dr. Rudolf V. Heberlein and Dr. Walter Berchtold, saw the new Lockheed propjet Electra with American Airlines' "Continental Sky Lounge" interior which combines regular reclining seats with asymmetrical conversational groups for a total capacity of 71 passengers. International interior arrangements provide for 66 to 88 air travelers |
