Caption | Of the steamships, only the closer unit can be determined: Smooth deck steamer "Helvétie", built in 1841 (!) by Ditchburn & Mare in London. The ship survived until 1918. Interesting to note the faintly discernible cargo ship moored (vertically) approximately in the middle, but too perpendicular to the shore towards the left edge. This is the "Venoge", the first larger ship in Switzerland with a diesel engine, built by Sulzer in Winterthur and put into service in 1905. Sailed |
Caption (German) | Von den Dampfschiffen ist nur die nähere Einheit zu bestimmen: Glattdeckdampfer "Helvétie", erbaut 1841 (!) von Ditchburn & Mare in London. Das Schiff hat bis 1918 überlebt. Interessant das schwach erkennbare Güterschiff, das (senkrecht) ungefähr in Mitte, aber gegen den linken Rand zu rechtwinklig zum Ufer vertäut ist. Es handelt sich dabei um die "Venoge", das erste grössere Schiff in der Schweiz mit einem Dieselmotor, erbaut von Sulzer in Winterthur und in Dienst gestellt im Jahre 1905. Gelaufen |
