Caption | Front: (school-leaved) girls and young women who were employed as "piecers". Their task was to join the threads of the expiring "warp beam" (longitudinal threads) with those of a new one, so that the threads did not have to be drawn into the "harness" again. In the middle: the bulk of the (machine) weavers. And the few men in the background were master weavers, mechanics, machine cleaners or warehousemen. |
