Caption | The Canal d'Entreroches was an artificial connection of the Rhine river basin with that of the Rhone, i.e. between Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Geneva. The initiative came from Holland and a Breton master builder completed the work between 1636 and 1648 (!) - from the north to the confluence with the Venoge, the canal was navigable and was then also used for almost 150 years up to Cossonay with small cargo ships.
