Caption | Departure from the Jardin Anglais: Motor vessel "Léman" (IV). This twin-screw MS was built during WW2 on the shell of the paddle steamer "Léman" (III) of 1857 (Escher Wyss & Co.) at the Ouchy shipyard, commissioned in 1942. "Léman" (VI) in service until 1983, the last 20 years or so more as a reserve ship, demolished in 1987. Right: DS "Simplon" (Sulzer 1915/20), which in those years was mostly only put under steam on beautiful summer Sundays. today the steamer is "busier". Postmark 22.5.1947 |
Caption (German) | In Abfahrt vom Jardin Anglais begriffen: Motorschiff "Léman" (IV). Dieses Doppelschrauben-MS wurde während des 2. Weltkrieges auf der Schale des Raddampfers "Léman" (III) von 1857 (Escher Wyss & Co.) in der Werft Ouchy erbaut, Inbetriebnahme 1942. "Léman" (VI) bis 1983 in Betrieb, die letzten rund 20 Jahre eher als Reserveschiff, Abbruch 1987. Recht: DS "Simplon" (Sulzer 1915/20), das in jenen Jahren meistens nur an schönen Sommersonntagen unter Dampf gesetzt wurde. heute ist der Dampfer "fleissiger". Poststempel 22.5.1947 |
