Caption In front of the board walls, peat-like rectangular pieces of dried sheep dung are stored, which is generally used as cheap fuel. The palisade fence in the foreground right surrounds a "Blakengarten", where Rumex alpinus is cultivated as pig feed (boiled down, for the winter). The large wide-woven basket that Schr. carries on his back (in front of the barn on the left) is used to transport hay.
Caption (German) Vor den Bretterwänden sind torfartige rechteckig zugeschnittene Stücke getrockneten Schafmistes aufgespeichert, welcher als billiges Brennmaterial ganz allgemein gebraucht wird. Der Palissadenzaun im Vordergrund rechts umgibt einen "Blakengarten", wo Rumex alpinus als Schweinefutter (eingekocht, für d. Winter) cultivirt wird. Der grosse weit-geflochtene Tragkorb, den Schr. auf d. Rücken trägt (vor d. Scheune links), wird zum Heutransport benutzt.
