Caption | The rocky threshold "Porta" in Bergell with the ancient (988 documented, 1839 restored) church and Nostra Donna d. Bregaglia and the castle "Castelmur" (Castellum ad murum), also mentioned in 988, the ancestral castle of the old Bergell dynasty of the "v. Castelmur" (1179 first mentioned in documents). Already the Romans (or Longobards) had strengthened the natural valley closure by a wall with a gate, which was still standing in the 16th century. The rocky threshold also forms an important vegetation border. Border: up to here reaches the Castanie! |
Caption (German) | Die Felsenschwelle "Porta" im Bergell mit der uralten (988 urkundl. erwähnte, 1839 restaurirte) Kirche u. Nostra Donna d. Bregaglia und dem ebenfalls 988 erwähnten Schlosse "Castelmur" (Castellum ad murum), dem Stammschloss des alten Bergellergeschlechts derer "v. Castelmur" (1179 urkundl. zuerst erwähnt). Schon d. Römer (od. Longobarden) hatten den natürl. Thalschluss durch eine Mauer mit Thor verstärkt, das noch im 16. Jahrh. stand. Die Felsenschwelle bildet auch eine wichtige Vegetat. Grenze: bis hierher reicht d. Castanie! |
