Caption At the service jetty above the Jardin Anglais lies the diesel-electric paddle steamer "Genève", rebuilt in 1933/34 as a pioneering achievement from the somewhat sluggish steamer of 1895/96 (Sulzer Winterthur, experimental valve control of the cylinders). At the time of photographing, the "Genève" is definitely still active, but in second priority - this mainly due to lack of comfort. The last sailing services and the discarding of the ship fall in 1973, but the ship was not demolished, but came from the shipyard in Ouchy to Geneva, where it was and still is used for social and cultural purposes, lying idle. Pointe: exactly at the pier as from this shot!
Caption (German) Am Dienststeg oberhalb des Jardin Anglais liegt das dieselelektrische Radschiff "Genève", 1933/34 als Pionierleistung aus dem etwas trägen Dampfer von 1895/96 (Sulzer Winterthur, experimentelle Ventilsteuerung der Zylinder) umgebaut. Zum Aufnahmezeitpunkt ist die "Genève" durchaus noch aktiv, allerdings in zweiter Priorität – dies vor allem wegen mangelndem Komfort. Die letzten Fahrleistungen und die Ausrangierung des Schiffes fallen ins Jahr 1973. Das Schiff wurde aber nicht abgebrochen, sondern gelangte von der Werft in Ouchy nach Genf, wo es still liegend für soziale und kulturelle Zwecke genutzt wurde und immer noch wird. Pointe: genau an dem Steg wie aus dieser Aufnahme!
