| Caption | Ready for departure in the foreground (Jardin Anglais): one of the sister ships "Vevey" and "Italie". The other twin ship of this duo is the land-based unit on the other shore (Quai du Mont-Blanc). Unfortunately, these units cannot be individualized from this perspective. The closer, seaward ship on the Mont-Blanc shore is the "Valais", built in 1913. Only partially visible, but still recognizable at the bottom of the picture is the "Lausanne" (I). All saloon steamers shown here were built by Gebr. Sulzer between 1900 and 1913. The "Lausanne" retired from service around 1978, the "Valais" already in 1961/62. The "Vevey" and "Italie" are still active, namely as ultra-modern diesel-electric units, which, apart from the propulsion, have been restored as far as possible to their original condition of 1907/08. |
| Caption (German) | Abfahrbereit im Vordergrund (Jardin Anglais): eines der Schwesterschiffe "Vevey" und "Italie". Das andere Zwillingsschiff dieses Duos ist die landseitige Einheit am anderen Ufer (Quai du Mont-Blanc). Individualisieren lassen sich diese Einheiten aus dieser Perspektive leider nicht. Das nähere, seeseitige Schiff am Mont-Blanc-Ufer ist die "Valais", Baujahr 1913. Nur teilweise sichtbar, aber trotzdem zu erkennen am unteren Bildrand die "Lausanne" (I). Alle hier gezeigten Salondampfer sind von den Gebr. Sulzer zwischen 1900 und 1913 erbaut worden. Die "Lausanne" quittierte um 1978 ihren Dienst, die "Valais" bereits 1961/62. "Vevey" und "Italie" sind aktiv. und zwar als hochmodern angetriebene dieselelektrische Einheiten, die ausser dem Antrieb denkmalpflegerisch überwacht weitestgehend in den Ursprungszustand von 1907/08 zurückversetzt wurden |
