Caption | Contemporary photo description of Swissair marketing: "Douglas DC-2 ground shot of Zurich airfield in the spring of 1935, Swissair introduced the first large twin-engine Douglas DC-2 aircraft as a standard type on the majority of its international routes. The Douglas are aircraft of all-metal construction with two 700 HP "Wright Cyclone" engines, wingspan 26 m, length 19 m, payload 2670 kg. Maximum weight 8200 kg., cruising speed 280 km, maximum speed: 338 km, 14 passenger seats. Crew: pilot, radio operator, stewardess. On December 16, 1936, these aircraft were used to open the Zurich-Basel-London route for the first time in winter traffic." |

Flugplatz Zürich im Frühjahr 1935 führte die Swissair erstmals zweimotorige Grossflugzeuge Douglas DC-2 als Einheitstype auf der Mehrzahl ihrer internationalen Linien ein. Die Douglas sind Flugzeuge in Ganzmetallkonstruktion mit zwei Motoren "Wright Cyclone" zu je 700 PS., Spannweite 26 m, Länge 19m, Nutzlast 2670 Kg. Maximalgewicht 8200 Kg., Reisegeschwindigkeit 280 km, Höchstgeschwindigkeit: 338 km, 14 Passagierplätze. Besatzung: Pilot, Funker, Stewardess. Am 16.
