Caption | Historically interesting photo, because where ships are moored here, practically none anchor today! The port of St. Johann (top right) has been completely abolished and the perimeter belongs to a large extent to the so-called Novartis Campus. Coal transshipment on this side of the Rhine has long been history and, with a few exceptions, mineral oil traffic has also migrated to the ports above Basel. Today, the area is home to a few office buildings and alternative interim uses. On the other hand, river cruise ships dock on the banks of the river. The marshalling yard, on the other hand, is largely unchanged, with container traffic dominating! |
