Caption | In the manufacture of shoes, the important problem arises: to connect the firm sole with the soft upper as durable as possible: in addition to the various ways of making this connection by stitching, a sole fastening was also made by metal screws. In the picture we see a first screw machine for sole fastening from 1860 from the museum of Bally shoe factories in Schönenwerd (Switzerland). Today, brass screwed shoes are still produced for heavy footwear for workers and military. |
Caption (German) | Bei der Herstellung von Schuhen stellt sich das wichtige Problem: Die feste Sohle mit dem weichen Oberteil möglichst haltbar zu verbinden: neben den verschiedenen Arten, diese Verbindung durch Nähte herzustellen, wurde auch eine Sohlenbefestigung durch Metallschrauben durchgeführt. Im Bilde sehen wir eine erste Schraubmaschine zur Sohlenbefestigung aus dem Jahre 1860 aus dem Museum der Bally Schuhfabriken in Schönenwerd (Schweiz). Heute werden messinggeschraubte Schuhe noch für schweres Schuhwerk für die Arbeiter und Militär hergestellt. |
