Caption The sorting machine is where the first evaluation work begins, namely sorting the punched cards according to the desired criteria (e.g. sorting the airline tickets according to ticket number and route number). This is where the great advantage of the punched card system becomes particularly apparent, since the number of cards processed in one hour is 24,000. (Original text by H. Caption (German) Mit der Sortiermaschine beginnt die erste Auswertungsarbeit, nämlich das Ordnen der Lochkarten nach den gewünschten Gesichtspunkten (z.B. Sortieren der Flugscheinkarten nach Billettnummer und Streckennummer). Hier tritt der grosse Vorteil des Lochkartensystems besonders deutlich hervor, beträgt der kartendurchlauf in einer Stunde doch 24'000 Stück. (Originaltext von H.
