Caption | Lecco, view to the north-northwest (NNW), on the right: Monte San Martino. These low-frequency three-phase AC locomotives were developed to conquer the Giovi Pass line between the port of Genoa and the industrial metropolises to the north. The Giovi line was electrified in 1910 with 3.6 kV 16 2/3 Hz three-phase current. Complicated catenary construction in the area of the points due to the two-pole catenary. The third pole of the three-phase system was the contact rail. |
