Caption | This tugboat is located around Donau-Schiffs-Museum in Regensburg. It is the former tugboat (called train steamer on the Danube) "Ruthof", later "Ersekcsanad". The ship was built in 1922/1923 at the Ruthof shipyard in Regensburg for Bayrischer Lloyd. Propulsion was a two-cylinder superheated steam compound engine. The ship remained in service during World War II until it ran into a mine in southern Hungary on June 20, 12944 and sank. In 1956 it was lifted and after some rebuilding (engine and boiler were still usable!) put into service for the Hungarian shipping company MAHART. The name changed from "Ruthof" to "Ersekcsanad". Thanks to an idealistic association, the ship was saved from scrapping in 1979 and since then it has been a museum souvenir of steam train navigation on the Danube.
