Caption The concrete runway at Geneva-Cointrin was built during World War 2. On April 8, 1946, it took the TWA DC-4 for landing on the occasion of the opening of the air traffic USA - Switzerland. On 24.11.1946 the first Swissair DC-4 landed with flight captain Heitmanek. Until the opening of Kloten, Swissair DC-4s operated from Geneva. In 1957 the runway was extended to 3900 meters
Caption (German) Die Betonpiste in Genf-Cointrin wurde im 2. Weltkrieg gebaut. Am 8. April 1946 nahm sie die TWA DC-4 anlässlich der Eröffnung des Luftverkehrs USA - Schweiz zur Landung auf. Am 24.11.1946 landete die erste Swissair DC-4 mit Flugkapitän Heitmanek. Bis zur Eröffnung von Kloten operierten die Swissair DC-4 von Genf aus. 1957 wurde die Piste auf 3900 Meter verlängert
