Caption On 24.08.1942 on the occasion of an RAF photo flight to Italy, the D.H. 98 Mosquito G-LY was forced to make an emergency landing at Bern Belpmoos due to overheating of the right engine. After negotiations with England, the aircraft was repaired and flown over to Emmen on 06.09.1943 with the registration E-42. On 13.10.1944 it was given to Swissair "on loan" and flown over to Dübendorf by the KTA single pilot Hptm. Läderach together with Swissair-Captain Hans Ernst. From 01.01.1945 with the new registration HB-IMO and with neutrality paint. On 20.03.1945 16 familiarization flights with a total of 126 flight minutes took place with 6 Swissair pilots (landing training). The planned courier flights to England were never started and on 10.02.1946 the Mosquito returned to the Luftwaffe and received the military registration B-5. Later the B-5 served as a test carrier for the Mamba engine of the "N-20" flying wing prototype. After 143 flights and 3724 flight minutes, the D.H.98 was decommissioned and dismantled in 1953.
Caption (German) Am 24.08.1942 anlässlich eines RAF-Fotofluges nach Italien wurde die D.H. 98 Mosquito G-LY infolge Überhitzung des rechten Motors in Bern Belpmoos zur Notlandung gezwungen. Nach Verhandlungen mit England wurde das Flugzeug repariert und am 06.09.1943 mit der Immatrikel E-42 nach Emmen überflogen. Am 13.10.1944 wurde sie "leihweise" der Swissair überlassen und durch den KTA Einflieger Hptm. Läderach zusammen mit Swissair-Captain Hans Ernst nach Dübendorf überflogen. Ab dem 01.01.1945 mit der neuen Immatrikel HB-IMO und mit Neutralitätsbemalung. Am 20.03.1945 fanden mit 6 Swissair Piloten 16 Angewöhnungsflüge mit total 126 Flugminuten statt (Landetraining). Die vorgesehenen Kurier-Flüge nach England wurden jedoch nie aufgenommen und am 10.02.1946 ging die Mosquito zurück zur Luftwaffe und erhielt die Militärimmatrikel B-5. Später diente die B-5 als Versuchsträger für das Mamba Triebwerk des "N-20" Nurflügel Prototypes. Nach 143 Flügen und 3724 Flugminuten wurde die D.H.98 ausser Betrieb gesetzt und 1953 demontiert
