Caption Approach of the diesel-electrically driven wheeled ship "Vevey". Built as a classic steamship in 1907 by Sulzer Brothers in Winterthur, the ship operated with its original propulsion system until 1952, when it was converted to diesel-electric propulsion and put into service in 1955. The ship operated with this configuration for 55 years. In 2010/11, the somewhat decrepit propulsion system was removed and the ship was also equipped with an ultra-modern diesel-electric propulsion unit in connection with an exterior restoration to its original condition, which was accompanied by a preservation order.
Caption (German) Anfahrt des dieselelektrisch angetriebenen Radschiffes "Vevey". Als klassisches Dampfschiff 1907 von den Gebr. Sulzer in Winterthur erbaut, verkehrte das Schiff mit seiner ursprünglichen Antriebsanlage bis 1952. Alsdann Umbau auf dieselelektrischen Antrieb, Inbetriebsetzung 1955. Mit dieser Konfiguration verkehrte das Schiff 55 Jahre lang. In den Jahren 2010/11 wurde die etwas altersschwach gewordene Antriebsanlage ausgebaut und das Schiff im Zusammenhang mit einer denkmalpflegerisch begleiteten äusserlichen Rückführung in den Originalzustand auch mit einem ultramodernen dieselelektrischen Antriebsaggregat ausgerüstet
