Caption | Samedan airfield was opened in December 1937. Flying from Dübendorf were Swissair Director Eugen Groh (center) and aircraft manufacturer Anthony Fokker (left, in white cap). As Douglas Europe's representative, Fokker supplied Swissair's DC-2 and pre-war DC-3, via its Amsterdam plant. As a result, there were close relations between Swissair and Fokker, so that the chalet "Oberalpina" in St. Moritz was often at the disposal of the Swissair Ski Club. The gentleman on the right is not known! |
