Caption | Built in 1904 by the shipyard Sir John Laing & Sons in Deptford/GB for the Quebec & Gulf Ports Steamship Co. service Canada-Bermuda-Gulf of Mexico. First arrival in Hamilton/Bermuda in January 1905. The ship remains in these services until the outbreak of war in 1914. Afterwards as auxiliary and troop ship with the Canadian Navy. After the war under the name "Fort Hamilton" similar services as before, but for another shipping company. Sold in 1926 to Fratelli Consulich in Trieste, new name "Stella d'Italia". After another change of ownership, demolition in Trieste in 1934. Technically special was the propulsion via two independent three-cylinder compound engines on a common propeller shaft. Caption (German) | Erbaut 1904 von der Werft Sir John Laing & Sons in Deptford/GB für die Quebec & Gulf Ports Steamship Co. Dienst Kanada-Bermudas-Golf von Mexico. Erste Ankunft in Hamilton/Bermudas im Januar 1905. Das Schiff verbleibt bis zum Kriegsausbruch 1914 in diesen Diensten. Nachher als Hilfs- und Truppenschiff bei der kanadischen Marine. Nach dem Krieg unter dem Namen "Fort Hamilton" ähnliche Dienste wie vorher, aber für eine andere Reederei. Verkauf 1926 an die Fratelli Consulich in Triest, neuer Name "Stella d’Italia". Nach erneutem Eignerwechsel Abbruch in Triest 1934. Technisch speziell war der Antrieb über zwei unabhängige Dreizylinder-Verbundmaschinen auf eine gemeinsame Schraubenwelle. Poststempel 10.4.1916 |
