Caption | Built in 1909 by Swan & Hunter in Wallsend-on-Tyne/Scotland for Grand Trunk Comp. Voyage around Cape Horn and commissioning in Vancouver on 4.6.1910. Propulsion: two 4-cylinder triple-expansion engines. Between the end of 1916 and 1931 the ship was involved in almost a dozen relatively serious accidents, sank halfway several times and was repeatedly repaired ("unlucky ship"). 20.8.1951: the "Prince Rupert" rammed the "Princess Kathleen" and caused great damage to both ships, sold to Japan for demolition in April 1955. Caption (German) | Erbaut 1909 bei Swan & Hunter in Wallsend-on-Tyne/Schottland für Grand Trunk Comp. Reise um das Kap Horn und Dienstaufnahme in Vancouver am 4.6.1910. Antrieb: zwei 4-Zylinder-Dreifachexpansionsmaschinen. Zwischen Ende 1916 und 1931 ist das Schiff in beinahe ein Dutzend relativ schwerwiegender Havarien verwickelt gewesen, ist mehrfach halb gesunken und wurde immer wieder repariert ("unlucky ship"). 20.8.1951: die "Prince Rupert" rammte die "Princess Kathleen" und verursachte grosse Schäden an beiden Schiffen, zum Abbruch im April 1955 nach Japan verkauft.
