Caption | "Mouette" and "Cygne" were two sister ships of double-sided half-saloon design. Small by the standards of Lake Geneva, these vessels primarily (but not exclusively) served the lower lake basin near Geneva. In their last state shown here, they were indistinguishable from each other. Unfortunately, the name is missing. The twins with the construction numbers 265 ("Cygne") and 266 were built by Escher Wyss & Cie in 1875, and the engines fully corresponded to those of the steamer "Rigi" in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. In the first decade of the 20th century the ships were sold: the "Mouette" to de Lago d'Iseo, the "Cygne" to the Bielersee. Postmark 14.7.1903 |
Poststempel 14.7.1903 |
