Caption | The levels of Lake Thun, which lies to the right outside the picture, and of the two arms of the Aare are each regulated by a historic weir (roofed, wooden construction). These structures are popularly and incorrectly called "sluices" (upper and lower) in Thun. The island formed by the two arms of the river is called the "Bälliz" and forms the actual (shopping) center of the city. |
