Caption The NCOs (see stripes on the sleeves) wear tchakos with battalion number 74 (belongs to Thurgau Regiment 31). The crossed rifles denote infantrymen. Above them the cockade with (most likely) the Thurgau colors green and white. Attached are pompons in the colors red and white, which used to denote the 1st Company of the battalion. Battalion 74 was part of the 6th Army Division in 1913. Postmark 21.6.1913
Caption (German) Die Unteroffiziere (siehe Streifen an den Ärmeln) tragen Tschakos mit der Bataillonsnummer 74 (gehört zum Thurgauer Regiment 31). Die gekreuzten Gewehre bezeichnen Infanteristen. Darüber die Kokarde mit (höchstwahrscheinlich) den Thurgauer Farben grün und weiss. Aufgesetzt sind Pompons in den Farben rot und weiss, was die 1. Kompagnie des Bataillons zu bezeichnen pflegte. Das Bataillon 74 gehörte 1913 zur 6. Armeedivision. Poststempel 21.6.1913
