Caption The white Carrara marble monument, unveiled on July 11, 1898, reminds us that until the middle of the 19th century, Neuchâtel was a Prussian province on the one hand, but also a recognized Swiss canton since the Congress of Vienna. The final separation from Prussia happened under the leadership of Napoleon III. Postmark 9.6.1919
Caption (German) Das am 11. Juli 1898 enthüllte Monument aus weissen Carrara-Marmor erinnert daran, dass Neuenburg bis Mitte des 19. Jh. einesteils eine preussische Provinz, anderseits aber auch seit dem Wiener Kongress anerkannter schweizerischer Kanton war. Die endgültige Trennung von Preussen geschah unter Federführung von Napoléon III. Poststempel 9.6.1919
