Caption | Postmark 26.11.1919. The oldest colored depiction of the saint is the battle banner, which according to tradition was carried in 1388. It shows a Fridolin in a swinging posture in black robe on a red background with abbot's staff, book and bag. Stylistically, the banner can be placed around 1400/1410. The red color is remarkable. As with the Schwyz coat of arms, it could be interpreted as the color of the blood or imperial banner. |
Caption (German) | Poststempel 26.11.1919.
