Caption | Screw paddle steamer "Speer", built by Escher Wyss & Cie in 1897, in operation until 1943. In the industrial quarter in Zurich, looking east (E), center: Escher-Wyss factory building on today's Giessereistrasse or Schiffbaustrasse, background: Zürichberg, left of center, elevated: row house development on Hönggerstrasse, left below: the elongated building of the former Esslingersche Manufaktur on Sihlquai. The ship is apparently to be towed in the direction of the Limmat and then probably in the direction of the city center |
Caption (German) | Schraubenraddampfer "Speer", erbaut von Escher Wyss & Cie im Jahre 1897, bis 1943 in Betrieb. Im Industriequartier in Zürich, Blick nach Osten (E), Mitte: Fabrikgebäude von Escher-Wyss an heutiger Giessereistrasse oder Schiffbaustrasse, Hintergrund: Zürichberg, links der Mitte, erhöht: Reihenhaussiedlung an der Hönggerstrasse, links darunter: das längliche Gebäude der ehemaligen Esslingerschen Manufaktur am Sihlquai. Das Schiff soll offenbar Richtung Limmat und dann wohl Richtung Stadtzentrum gezogen werden |
