Caption Four people are busy picking the potatoes. The sufficiently large potatoes are placed from the middle belt onto one of the outer belts; stones, clods of earth, haulm and roots are returned to the field via the middle belt. The sorting work is typically done by women and older people, while younger men or boys drive the tractor or control the machine.
Caption (German) Vier Personen sind mit dem Verlesen der Kartoffeln beschäftigt. Die genügend grossen Kartoffeln werden vom mittleren Band auf eines der äusseren Bänder gelegt; Steine, Erdschollen, Kraut und Wurzeln gelangen übers mittlere Band wieder auf den Acker. Die Verlesearbeit wird typischerweise von Frauen und älteren Personen erledigt, währenddem jüngere Männer oder Knaben den Traktor fahren oder die Maschine kontrollieren
