Caption | To the ships: next to the pier at the Meili Hall, at that time landing stage for the courses to Alpnachstad: DS "Italia", built in 1872 by Escher Wyss and decommissioned almost exactly one year after the photo was taken. Behind the trees: DS "Uri", Sulzer 1901, still active. Further to the right at the landing stage used for the Küsnacht courses: MS "Titlis", self-built by DGV 1949-51, after modifications also still active. At the small boat pier: MS "Mythen", also built by DGV (1930/31, first ship with aluminum superstructure, also still active). Approaching from the lake: MV "Rütli", whose shell had to be delivered from Sachsenberg in Rosslau as a contractual penalty for the defective engine of the "Stadt Luzern" (III). Also this small ship still makes itself useful on the lake, esp. for the local courses in the area of Lucerne |
