| Caption | Type "Coronation", developed by the chief engineer Sir William Stanier of the Midland Railway, these partly streamlined machines shone in red with yellow (golden) trim lines, they were capable of running on schedule at 100 miles, i.e. a good 160 km/h, most of the machines remained in regular service until around 1960/62, mainly between London (Euston) and Glasgow |
